Our Story

Fireworks Restaurant

FireWorks Restaurant opened in Lincoln s Historic Haymarket in December, 2002, playing the role of the more adventurous sister to Lazlo s Brewery & Grill, keeping the tradition of from-scratch cooking, house-brewed ales and teamwork service. In February, 2007, FireWorks relocated to its current home, a state-of-the-art energy-efficient building at 5750 South 86th Drive in southeast Lincoln. With energy-saving architectural elements, strategically positioned windows and skylights and a self-sustainable geothermal heating and cooling system, FireWorks Restaurant is an environmental leader in its industry. Continuing this calling, in 2009, FireWorks installed a 5,400 square foot rain garden containing more than 3,200 native plants, shrubs and trees. The self-sufficient rain garden captures pollutants from rain water runoff and serves as a beautiful rest stop for users of the Billy Wolff bike trail.

Featuring a wood-fired rotisserie, wood-fired pizza oven and a wood-fired grill, the restaurant is rightly billed as “A Celebration of Wood-Fired Cooking.” The restaurant's large bar is a favorite dining area for lunch guests and happy hour goers. Dressed in natural textures of wood and stone, the main dining area includes ample seating in cozy booths, at tables, in private dining rooms or in our three-season patio. FireWorks offers call-ahead seating and take-out service.

Our food is hand-crafted from scratch with fresh ingredients. Our burgers are made from 100% pure chuck, ground fresh in our kitchen. Our steaks are USDA Choice Omaha Steaks® aged 21 days for maximum tenderness. We buy only the freshest fish, flown in daily. Our homemade soups simmer for hours for maximum flavor. Fresh ingredients and wood-fired cooking are what give our food its bold, yet primal, flavors.

FireWorks Restaurant serves handcrafted ales straight from our own brewery, Empyrean Brewing Company. Empyrean Brewing Company, founded in 1990, is Nebraska s largest micro-brewery and was recognized at the prestigious World Beer Cup in Seattle with a silver medal for “LunaSea ESB.”
